Olubadan Accommodates Non-Indigenes In Ibadan - Opinion Poll
An opinion poll described the Olubadan of Ibadan as a traditional ruler who encourages non-indigenes in his domain. Speaking in different interviews, the coordinator of the Non-Indigenes Group of Ibadan and the acting Sarkin Hausawa of Ijebuland, Alhaji Gani and Alhaji Dikko, said they regard the royal father as a reference point in Nigeria.
Alhaji Gani, coordinator, Non-Indigene Group of Oyo State:
Q: What is your observation regarding the one year anniversary of the Olubadan of Ibadanland?
A: His Imperial Majesty Oba Rasheed Ladoja is our father and he has contributed greatly towards the progress of non-indigenes in Ibadanland. Since assuming office he has demonstrated transparency, accountability and hard work as he continues to mentor the young ones to greatness, and it is imperative we support him in prayers so that he will live long on the throne of his forefathers and continue to wax stronger. On my own, as a councillor representing the non-indigenes in my local government, I have made an impact by attracting infrastructure to my domain which includes drainage and rehabilitation of the health centre among others.
Alhaji Dikko, the acting Sarkin Hausawa of Ibadanland:
Q: What can you say about Oba Ladoja being the Olubadan of Ibadanland?
A: The Olubadan of Ibadanland is a unique royal father; his leadership qualities are top notch and there is no doubt that his reign has engendered maximum peace in Ibadanland. He is a monarch who encourages communal efforts and supports the non-indigenes in the state. I am of the view that his style of leadership is worthy of emulation. I am poised to emulate some of his key qualities by protecting the interests of the Hausa community in Ibadanland by listening to their challenges and finding lasting solutions.
I must applaud His Excellency Engr. Seyi Makinde, the governor of the state, for his development efforts, more importantly in the area of security, and it is our prayer that his successor will be able to sustain his positive legacies. While wishing Oba Ladoja a happy coronation anniversary, I pray he lives long on the throne of his forefathers.
